BAFTA Award winner Anna Maxwell Martin will star opposite Rhys Ifans in the upcoming series Star City. Created by Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore, Star City is another alternate history retelling of the space race - when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. But this time we explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, engineers and intelligence officers who were part of the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to advance humanity.
Martin (pictured) plays Lyudmilla, the head of the KGB's surveillance department in Star City. Ifans plays the lead designer.
Wolpert and Nedivi serve as showrunners and produce alongside Moore and Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions along with Steve Oster and Andrew Chambliss. Like For All Mankind, which was recently renewed for a fifth season, Star City is produced for Apple TV+ by Sony Pictures Television.
Martin has earned two BAFTAs for Best Actress, in 2006 for the miniseries Bleak House (2005) and in 2009 for the television film Poppy Shakespeare, along with three further nominations, including for the comedy series Motherland. She also appeared in BBC's A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, available worldwide on Netflix, and ITVX's spy series A Spy Among Friends, opposite Guy Pearce and Damian Lewis.
