Apple TV+ adds another Emmy winner to its talent roster.Matthew Rhys, known for FX series The Americans and HBO's Perry Mason (2020), has signed on to star and produce a series titled Widow's Bay. Rhys plays the mayor of a New England seaside town who refuses to believe his constituents' warnings that the place is cursed.
Widow's Bay is one of the few streaming series that Rhys (photo) has joined. He is currently filming The Beast in Me, a limited series in which he stars with Claire Danes, for Netflix. Rhys also has serial killer drama Silent River coming up for Prime Video (opposite John Krasinski) and recently completed BBC/BritBox mystery Towards Zero, based on an Agatha Christie novel.
Widow's Bay comes from creator and showrunner Katie Dippold and Apple Studios. Hiro Murai directs the pilot and is responsible for production.
