FX has given a pilot order to Seven Sisters, a drama starring Elizabeth Olsen. In Seven Sisters, from FX Productions, a large, close-knit family begins to fall apart when one sister (Olsen) begins communicating in a voice no one else can hear — forcing them both to confront long-buried secrets.
The pilot comes from executive producers Will Arbery (Succession, Irma Vep), who wrote the pilot; Sean Durkin (Dead Ringers), who will direct; and Garrett Basch (What We Do in the Shadows, Ripley).
Seven Sisters reunites Olsen (pictured) and Durkin a decade and a half after the award-winning 2011 film Martha Marcy May Marlene , written and directed by Durkin in his feature debut, in which Olsen starred in her film debut. Olsen is currently producing the Warner Bros. thriller Panic Carefully opposite Julia Roberts.
If the pilot goes forward, it would mark Basch’s fifth series for FX, where his company Dive has a long-term first-look deal, following Devs , Reservation Dogs , What We Do in the Shadows and Sterlin Harjo’s upcoming Tulsa noir drama starring Ethan Hawke. He recently executive produced Ripley for Netflix, Time Bandits for Apple TV+ and Interior Chinatown for Hulu.
Arbery, a Texas-based playwright and screenwriter, wrote for HBO’s Succession , for which he won the WGA Award for Episodic Drama. He co-wrote the screenplay for the upcoming film Sacrifice, directed by Romain Gavras and starring Chris Evans and Anya Taylor-Joy.
Durkin recently wrote, directed, and produced The Iron Claw for A24, which won at the National Board of Review Awards. He will edit and direct Deep Cuts for A24, starring Saoirse Ronan and Austin Butler.
