Natalie Dormer to play Sarah Ferguson in miniseries The Lady

Natalie Dormer and Mia McKenna-Bruce star in the upcoming four-part drama The Lady.
Mia McKenna-Bruce stars as former royal aide Jane Andrews, alongside Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer (pictured) as Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. The Lady follows the rise and fall of former royal dresser Andrews, whose rags-to-riches tale was shattered when she was convicted of murder.

The series also stars Ed Speleers, Philip Glenister, Claire Skinner, Laura Aikman, Ophelia Lovibond, Mark Stanley, Daniel Ryan and Sean Teale. Lee Haven Jones (The Feast) is set to direct.

A synopsis of the plot reads: "Once a young working-class girl, Jane answered an advertisement in a magazine and, to the surprise of her friends and family, became the Duchess of York's dresser at Buckingham Palace. Jane moved in Britain's highest social circles and managed to secure a place in the upper classes, only to lose her job with the Duchess after nine years of service. Still reeling from her fall from grace, Jane met and fell madly in love with charismatic businessman Thomas Cressman. Cracks soon began to appear in the romance on which Jane had pinned all her hopes, with disastrous consequences."

Mia McKenna-Bruce (pictured) will also soon be seen in the Netflix series The Seven Dials Mystery, based on the novel by Agatha Christie, opposite Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Freeman. She has previously starred in the Peacock series Vampire Academy and Netflix's Get Even.

Dormer played Margaery Tyrell in HBO's Game of Thrones and Anne Boleyn in the BBC/Showtime series The Tudors. She has also had television roles in Australian channel Showcase's Picnic at Hanging Rock, Showtime's Penny Dreadful: City of Angels and the South African thriller White Lies.

The series will air on ITV1 and STV and is available to stream on ITVX and STV Player in the UK and BritBox in the US and Canada. Sony Pictures Television will distribute The Lady internationally.
