Milo Ventimiglia and Britt Lower to star in Harlan Coben series I Will Find You

Milo Ventimiglia and Britt Lower have boarded the next Harlan Coben film adaptation, I Will Find You.
Based on Coben’s New York Times bestseller, I Will Find You is the author’s next Netflix adaptation through their creative partnership. Previous series Fool Me Once and Missing You, set in the UK instead of the US, have scored impressive ratings on the streaming service.

Logan Browning and Erin Richards have also joined the cast, joining the previously announced Sam Worthington, who leads the series as David Burroughs.

The series follows an innocent father (Worthington) serving life in prison for the murder of his own son. Things get rocked when he learns that his child is still alive—and he must break out of prison to find the truth.

Lower, who currently stars in the hit Apple TV+ series Severance opposite Adam Scott, plays Rachel Mills, David’s ex-sister-in-law and a former decorated reporter whose life fell apart after she was fired. When she finds evidence that suggests an incredible secret, Rachel sees it as a once-in-a-lifetime story that could be her ticket back to journalism.

This Is Us actor Ventimiglia (pictured), also known for Gilmore Girls, plays Hayden, a native of a prominent Boston family who finds purpose in working for his family’s philanthropic foundations. Although he is Rachel’s ex-boyfriend, they remain close friends and confidants.

Browning (Dear White People) stars as Sarah Greer, a member of the FBI’s Boston Fugitive Task Force who works with legendary agent Max Williams. Together, they’ve become a valuable duo for the bureau, capturing some of the country’s most notorious fugitives until Burroughs’ case threatens to upend everything they’ve worked for.

Finally, Richards (Gotham) is cast as Cheryl Dreason, a talented and compassionate pediatric surgeon who’s still grieving the loss of her son but has worked hard to rebuild her life. When her ex-husband, David, escapes from prison, long-buried secrets threaten to unravel everything she’s built.

Since the deal with Netflix in 2018, around fourteen of Harlan Coben’s books have been adapted into international thrillers, but the results have been mixed and not always convincing. The series often follow the same formula: a mysterious past that is slowly unraveled, with plenty of plot twists, but after a few episodes that approach feels repetitive and predictable. All in all, many of these series seem hastily made, more focused on quantity than quality. Still, I’m curious about I Will Find You, the latest film adaptation of his work. Hopefully it will manage to raise the bar a bit.
