Peacock's Friday the 13th series Crystal Lake stars William Catlett

William Catlett has landed a major role opposite the previously announced Linda Cardellini in Peacock's Crystal Lake. The upcoming series Crystal Lake, a reimagining of the iconic Friday the 13th franchise, is expanding its cast further, with William Catlett set to play Levon Brooks. While no further details have been released about his character, his addition underscores the Peacock series’ mysterious premise. Linda Cardellini was previously announced as Pamela Voorhees — the tragic and abusive mother of Jason Voorhees, the notorious hockey-masked killer.

The series is being developed by Brad Caleb Kane (IT: Welcome to Derry), who will serve as creator, screenwriter and showrunner. The series is in production at A24, known for groundbreaking horror films such as Hereditary and Midsommar, and is expected to offer a more psychologically intense look at the origins of the Friday the 13th story. Co-producers include Victor Miller (the original screenwriter of the first 1980 film) and his attorney Marc Toberoff.

Pamela Voorhees, the killer from the very first film, is set to return to center stage in Peacock’s series. In the original film, directed by Sean S. Cunningham, she was played by Betsy Palmer and revealed as the murderer who slaughtered young people in revenge for the death of her son Jason. It’s unclear whether Crystal Lake is a prequel, retelling or expansion, but the focus on Pamela suggests the series will delve deeper into her psychological transformation into a killer.

The 12-film Friday the 13th franchise is one of the most recognizable horror film franchises of all time. From the original slasher in 1980 to the Freddy vs. Jason crossover and the 2009 reboot, the series has had a lasting impact on pop culture and the horror genre. This new series will be the first major expansion of the universe in over a decade.

Catlett, who recently starred in Netflix’s Forever (2025), is also known for roles in shows like Constellation (Apple TV+) and Black Lightning (The CW).
