In Boston Blue, Wahlberg reprises his role as Danny Reagan — a character he originally played in Blue Bloods — but this time he’s transferred from the NYPD to the Boston Police Department, where he’s paired with Detective Lena Silver (played by Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of an influential law enforcement family.
Lawson plays Lena’s stepsister, Sarah Silver, a determined chief inspector in the Boston Police Department. Sarah finds herself caught between her family loyalties and her professional responsibilities. Her position within both the department and the family makes her a pivotal figure in the dynamics of the series.
The Silver family is the heart of the series. Ernie Hudson ( Oz) plays Reverend Peters, the patriarch of this mixed clan. He is the father of Mae Silver, the Boston district attorney, and grandfather (or step-grandfather) to Lena, Sarah, and police officer-in-training Isaac Silver. These family ties create not only emotional layers, but also conflicts that inevitably merge work and personal lives.
For Lawson, this role marks a return to a familiar genre, but with a new and complex character in a series that promises to explore both personal and social themes.
