The Harry Potter HBO series has taken another step forward with a bunch of cast additions. HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series, set to debut in 2026, has taken a major step forward with the announcement of nine new cast members. The series, which is being described as a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved book series, will air over a period of ten years and will be produced with direct involvement from the author himself.
Johnny Flynn
The newly announced cast includes Lox Pratt, who will take on the role of Draco Malfoy. His father Lucius Malfoy will be played by Johnny Flynn. The Dursleys have also been cast: Bel Powley will play Petunia Dursley and Daniel Rigby will take on the role of Vernon Dursley. According to showrunner Francesca Gardiner, the Dursleys in this series will be considerably younger than their film counterparts.
Ron Weasley's mother, Molly Weasley, also has a new voice in Katherine Parkinson. In addition, the group of Hogwarts students has been expanded with Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown. Bertie Carvel will take on the role of Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic. All of these actors will probably have recurring roles in the series.

These cast members join previously confirmed names such as John Lithgow, who will play Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. The lead roles of Harry, Ron and Hermione have been entrusted to newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton.
Filming for the series will begin soon at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, UK, where parts of the original film series were previously filmed. Mark Mylod will direct multiple episodes and serve as executive producer.
With this cast and the involvement of experienced creatives such as Francesca Gardiner and J.K. Rowling herself, HBO seems to be aiming for a deep and long-lasting retelling of the magical universe that has enchanted millions of fans worldwide.
