The eight-episode series is a modern retelling of Stephen King's 1974 novel. The plot once again centers on Carrie White, an introverted and socially awkward teenager growing up in seclusion under the yoke of her domineering and religiously fanatical mother.
In this version, Carrie’s life is turned upside down after the sudden death of her father. She finds herself in a public high school for the first time, where she tries to adjust to the social dynamics. When a bullying scandal breaks out that divides the community, Carrie reveals her telekinetic powers, leading to dramatic and ultimately fatal consequences.
