Prime Video's Vikings series Bloodaxe casts Xavier Molyneux in the lead role

Relatively new actor Xavier Molyneux has landed the lead role in Prime Video's new historical drama series Bloodaxe.
Bloodaxe was officially announced in March and tells the story of the rise of one of the most famous Vikings in history: Erik Bloodaxe, played by Molyneux, and his powerful wife Gunnhild, also known as the 'Mother of Kings'.

As they vie for the throne of Norway, the country is torn apart by ruthless rivals, shifting alliances and bloody betrayals. The threat of war and increasing chaos bring not only Scandinavian kings but also an influential English ruler into the picture – the perfect recipe for a new, thundering Viking saga.

Bloodaxe is created, written and produced by Michael Hirst & Horatio Hirst and is produced by MGM Television. Although Bloodaxe shares similarities with previous series Vikings and Vikings: Valhalla – all three based on historical figures and produced by MGM Television – the new series is not a direct continuation of those storylines. The events in Bloodaxe take place decades after Vikings and decades before Valhalla. Filming begins in Ireland in late July.

Xavier Molyneux is an up-and-coming Australian actor currently based in New Zealand. He recently wrapped his role in the iconic Australian soap opera Neighbours and was recently seen in the Netflix romantic drama Take My Hand.

Michael Hirst and series about Vikings is a golden combination. I am once again in the party.
