Netflix has announced a new name for its as-yet-untitled Newfoundland limited series starring Josh Hartnett.Mackenzie Davis, known for Station Eleven, among others, has joined the main cast of the as-yet-untitled Newfoundland Project, a new limited series from creator Jesse McKeown.
Davis (pictured) will star opposite Josh Hartnett, who will not only play the male lead but also serve as an executive producer. The six-part series is set in Newfoundland, Canada, where filming will also take place.
The story follows a hardened fisherman (played by Hartnett) who must protect his family, his community, and his fading way of life when a mysterious sea monster begins terrorizing a remote coastal town.
Davis, a Canadian native, has starred in HBO Max’s Station Eleven and AMC’s Halt & Catch Fire, among other films. She has also starred in Netflix’s Black Mirror and Love, Death & Robots. She will soon be seen in Netflix’s new crime noir series, The Undertow. Her film credits include big titles such as Blade Runner 2049, Terminator: Dark Fate, Tully, and The Martian.
