Sally Phillips to star in BBC series The Hairdresser Mysteries

The BBC has announced a new crime series starring Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’s Diary): The Hairdresser Mysteries. The six-part series The Hairdresser Mysteries is written by Jim Cartwright and is described as "a nostalgic nod to the 1970s." Sally Phillips stars as Lily Petal, a successful hairdresser who leaves the busy city life behind to open a small salon in a picturesque village at the top of a cobbled street.

In her new salon, Lily quickly discovers that everyone tells their hairdresser everything. Thanks to her sharp intuition, empathy, and keen observation, she becomes the center of village life and gets entangled in the many secrets of the residents. She develops into an unexpected amateur detective who solves the mysteries of her new community.

According to the creators, The Hairdresser Mysteries promises to be a cheerful yet clever crime series, combining a modern story with a retro atmosphere and colorful characters. The project taps into the popularity of the so-called cosy crime genre — crime series that blend suspense and mystery with warmth and humor.
