Apple TV+ has picked up the eight-part limited series The Off Weeks, starring and also executive produced by Jessica Chastain and Ben Stiller. The Off Weeks centers around Gus Adler (Ben Stiller), a creative writing professor trying to rebuild his life after his divorce. During his 'on-weeks'—the weeks he has custody of his children—he strives to keep everything running smoothly. However, during his 'off-weeks', he falls dangerously hard for the mysterious Stella West (Jessica Chastain), whose arrival sends his family life and ambitions on a fatal collision course.
Ben Stiller
Stiller and Chastain previously worked together in the animated film Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, where they lent their voices to the lion Alex and the jaguar Gia, respectively.
The project builds on the collaboration between Stiller and Apple TV+, which recently achieved significant success with Severance. This series, starring Adam Scott, won eight awards out of a total of 27 nominations at the Emmy Awards, including for Britt Lower (Best Actress), Tramell Tillman (Best Supporting Actor), and Merritt Wever (Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series).
Jessica Chastain
Stiller is also set to release the documentary Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost on Apple TV+, about his parents Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. He produced and directed the series Escape at Dannemora for Showtime and had a voice role in the animated series Krapopolis on Fox.
Jessica Chastain will soon be seen in the Apple Original thriller series The Savant, which was set to premiere on September 26 but has now been postponed indefinitely. Chastain is also attached as an executive producer. She previously played country star Tammy Wynette in the limited series George & Tammy on Showtime and appeared in HBO's Scenes From a Marriage (US), among others.
