Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning to star in thriller series Discretion

The independent studio A24 successfully acquired the rights for Discretion, a series based on a short story by bestselling author Chandler Baker.Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning will not only play the lead roles, but also serve as executive producers. The project marks a reunion for the duo with A24, with whom they previously collaborated on Margo's Got Money Troubles for Apple TV+ set to release next year.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the story is set in Dallas and is partly based on Baker’s experiences as a corporate lawyer. Baker is writing the script herself, with the intention of building Discretion into an ongoing series. A24 will soon offer the project to potential buyers.

Kidman was recently seen in the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers (Hulu) and Lioness (Paramount+), and in the Netflix miniseries The Perfect Couple. Additionally, the series Scarpetta for Prime Video and a possible third season of Big Little Lies for HBO, as well as the film Practical Magic 2 alongside Sandra Bullock, are on her agenda.


Elle Fanning

Fanning is known for her role as Catherine the Great in the absurdist satirical dark comedy Hulu series The Great. She also starred in the Hulu miniseries The Girl From Plainville. She will soon be seen in the film Predator: Badlands (release in November) and plays Effie Trinket in the film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

Meanwhile, Baker is working on the Amazon MGM Studios adaptation of her novel The Husbands, starring Kristen Wiig, and co-wrote the script for Prime Video’s upcoming Christmas film Oh. What. Fun., also based on one of her short stories.
