The characters in the series are new and not direct adaptations of the game heroes, but their story also takes place against the backdrop of crucial historical events meant to influence the course of human history.
The production comes from an agreement Netflix made with Ubisoft in 2020. Filming is scheduled for 2026 in Italy, which reportedly serves as the setting, although the exact historical era is not yet known.
With over 230 million games sold, Assassin’s Creed is one of the best-selling video game franchises ever, raising expectations for the series.
For Wallace, this project marks a return to Netflix, where he was previously seen in the YA mystery series The Society. He recently completed filming for HBO’s Euphoria, in which he has a regular role in the third season. Wallace was seen as Steve Jones, guitarist of the Sex Pistols, in Danny Boyle’s FX/Hulu miniseries Pistol.
