Orange Is the New Black actress will portray the lead character in Blood Relative

Blood Relative is one of the six pilots from FOX which entered production. The network has now revealed more about the cast. In Blood Relative, Dascha Polanco (Orange Is the New Black) will play a lead role opposite Tate Donovan (MacGyver (2016)), Tyrone Marshall Brown (Love is ___) and Melissa Leo (I'm Dying Up Here). Tracie Thoms (9-1-1) and Sarah Catherine Hook (NOS4A2) will have a recurring role in the crime series.

Polanco will portray Maria Alvarez, who is attempting to acquire a PhD in psychology. Twenty years ago, her father Diego was sentenced for murder. Maria is astonished when she hears that the police has found the body of the man who was supposedly killed by her father. The life of Maria changes due to new information found in forensics.

The series is written by Chris Levinson (Law & Order) and James Renner and is based not he by Renner written article called Beyond the Jungle of Bad: The True Story of Two Women from California Who are Solving All the Mysteries.
