Series that turned twenty years old in 2020

In the year 2000, we didn't have the same quality of television as we do now. Netflix, Amazon and HBO weren't all that well-known and people mainly watched 'regular' television channels.
In the year 2020, big movies such as Mission Impossible II, Gladiator, Cast Away and the X-men were available in theatres. The UEFA European Championship was held in The Netherlands and Belgium, and the tournament was won by France. For lovers of other sports, there was also the Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

The West Wing won an Emmy for best drama series and Will & Grace won one for best comedy. At the Academy Awards, American Beauty was awarded an Oscar for best picture.

The things listed above are just a small summary of what happened that year. But which series were released in 2000? Those series will be twenty years old as of today. I've picked a couple.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
On the 6th of October in 2000, CBS premiered a crime series called CSI: Crime Investigation. This series revolves around a forensic team in Las Vegas that is tasked with solving various crimes. Only the CSI team has the specialised knowledge and access to complex technical and scientific methods that are needed to solve the most difficult crimes, varying from murders to arson. The series has had 335 episodes over the course of fifteen seasons. The final episode is called End Game and aired on the 15th of February in 2015. CSI had three more spin-offs: CSI: Miami, CSI: NY and CSI: Cyber.

Curb Your Enthusiasm
The comedy series of the co-creator of Seinfeld premiered at HBO on the 14th of October in 200. It is the only series in this list that hasn't been cancelled as of yet. Earlier this year, the tenth season premiered and the series has already been renewed with the eleventh season. Larry David portrays a fictional version of himself and ends up in all kinds of bizarre situations. And when he tries to talk his way out, the situations only become more troublesome.

Gilmore Girls
The dramedy Gilmore Girls from The CW premiered on the 5th of October in 2000. The series had seven seasons and concluded on the 15th of May in 2007. Many fans were happy to hear that a sequel was announced in 2016. The sequel series would be made by Netflix and is called Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Its only season had four episodes. Both series revolved around mother and daughter Gilmore, who were portrayed by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel.

Waking the Dead
For 92 episodes divided over nine seasons, the Brits were able to watch Waking the Dead, a BBC One detective series. It premiered on the 4th of September in 2000 and revolves around the life of chief inspector Peter Boyd (Trevor Eve). He finds himself at the head of the Metropolitan Police's Cold Case Squad. This elite task force was specifically created to reopen unsolved murder cases. The team uses the latest forensic techniques and a so-called 'profiler'. On the 11th of April in 2011, the series was cancelled.
