November 2020: MySeries in 500 words

December is on the way, and that is usually quite a busy time for MySeries. But this isn't the only place that's busy. Supermarkets, garden centres and furniture stores are usually packed with people this time of year.
Shouldn't it be time to reopen restaurants and close garden centres and furniture stores? The hardworking cafeteria people definitely deserve a little bit of money at the end of the year. But for now, it appears as if we'll only be able to celebrate the holidays in small groups at home.

And just to make things a little bit cozy, lots of people have decided to already decorate their homes. And that definitely makes the world a bit happier, even if it still takes some time before the holidays have arrived. The Christmas lights will make the world seem a lot less gloomy, is what quite a few people must have thought. I think those people are right.

November was the month when we received the saddening news that a MySeries writer has passed away due to corona. Karin Witowksi will be missed. But what else has happened in November, apart from there being much of the same. I could talk about Trump, who's lost and who isn't willing to accept that, or that the politics here weren't boring either.

Unfortunately, the family of Nicky Verstappen isn't able to consider their case closed even if the perpetrator has been convicted (Dutch rape and murder case). A documentary about this has recently aired. But November also meant the return of quite a few series and those were definitely worth your time. And thus, we didn't have to get bored at all.

Most fall schedules turned into winter schedules, and we can only wait to see if next year will mean the return of the 'old'. Isn't there anything positive to say? Yes, there is. The series of the year election is coming up. This means a lot of work for the writers who participate. The election has been a nice way to end the year at MySeries.

In November, we've also welcomed quite a few new writers to our writing team. Always great to have new writers, they usually come with new insights and opinions. There were a lot of series that deserve a wonderful review. There were lots of new and already existing series that could be written about.

Some of these series will definitely be a part of the series of the year election. I would be very surprised if the new series wouldn't receive nominations. But all we can do is wait. Elections are always difficult to predict and a long time ago, I've decided not to bet any more.

That may be the result of me always losing after I place a bet, even when I'm sure about which series will take home an award. And naturally, there will also be voters who may not agree with the eventual results. Ah well, this happens every year.

With kind election regards,

Mandy
