Strange month, February. We were able to walk on ice, create snowmen and we could do various winter sports. But, we could also enjoy the spring sun and head out to forests or the beach. We still can't shop, go out for dinner, visit a movie theatre, go to a zoo, theme park or escape room. We have to be back inside at 21.00 but a lot of people don't seem to understand why. People are also being vaccinated and that wasn't a guarantee that we could all go back to enjoying our lives. Sometimes I just don't know what to believe anymore. Should or should I not be vaccinated. Should I just go out like so many other Dutch people and just think "But then I should be able to shop, right?"
The elections are coming up and it all seems like the VVD is going to win again (current biggest party in the Netherlands). It is better than Frank or Claire Underwood. So why worry. Everything will eventually end up back to normal. Although it is hard right now, and I notice that at home as well. My daughter and son-in-law are craving a little bit of space, a normal routine, going to school, having a nice dinner, doing fun things with friends. My lovely husband and I also want to go out for a nice meal or enjoy a movie at a theatre.
Unfortunately, we will have to wait for the redeeming word that normal life can resume. Until then, most evenings are spent watching series in the evening. Netflix and Amazon are doing quite well if you look at ratings and subscriptions. But there is one big winner this month and that is Disney+. Starting from the 23rd of February, the library was expanded on with Star. A lot of series and movies were added to the streaming service and reception to that has been quite positive.
Although there is a bit of criticism regarding the new content as well. I feel like Switzerland when talking about the new content. Some series I may watch. However, there are so many new series recently that I don't know if I also have the time to watch The House of Mouse at Star, for example. And in the entire list of new series, there are only two or three that I really want to see. The others I have already seen.
But I assume and hope that the list of series will be expanded with another 50 series in the coming months. Hopefully some of those will be on my watchlist. Until then, there are plenty of releases on the various streaming services. Next to that, politics and the current situation in The Netherlands are more than enough reason to remain busy. We will not have to get bored even if we can't do everything we want to. Good luck voting!
With kind television regards,
Mandy
