The amount of series is so great, however, that it's always difficult to pick the right nominees. Luckily, the viewers also play a part in deciding which series should be here, so that MySeries can actually have a nice diverse list. Once I went through all the potential nominees, I came to the conclusion that I hadn't actually seen a number of the series. As a reader of these columns, keep that in mind once you're going over the lists of nominees.
American Crime Story
Every season, American Crime Story dives into a part of history and sheds light on a true crime story. After the first season with O.J. Simpson and Versace in the second season, it is now president Bill Clinton's turn. The sex scandal that nearly resulted in his impeachment, to be exact.
Bloodlands
Bloodlands is a British crime series that follows detective Tom Brannick and his search for a hitman who's been active in the Northern-Irish Strangford Lough for years. The hunt on the murderer concludes with an explosive cat-and-mouse game that will give you goosebumps.
Bosch
The LAPD outsider, detective Harry Bosch, has reached its seventh season. When you manage to achieve this list, that means you've left an impression on your viewers. In the case of Bosch, that is well-deserved.
Clarice
With Hannibal, we were able to take a look at a franchise series from the stable of the Silence of the Lambs movies. In that series, the spotlight shone on serial killer Hannibal Lector for several seasons. The story of the series takes place in 1993, a year after the events of the famous movie. Here, Clarice returns to hunt serial killers and sexual predators, while at the same time getting entangled in American politics.
Godfather of Harlem
With Godfather of Harlem, we return to the 60s when a notorious criminal tries to regain control over his old neighbourhood. The series has already reached its second season, which is still as good as the first. With Forest Whitaker, the series also has a lead actor who always impresses no matter what character he portrays.
Kastanjemanden
Kastanjemanden may sound like a Dutch series, it isn't. This crime series comes from Denmark, and just like its predecessors, this series manages to keep viewers interested. A healthy amount of suspense from start to end. It revolves around the hunt on a murderer who leaves behind chestnut puppets as his signature.
Line of Duty
For the sixth time, the AC-12 team of the British police tries to find a dirty cop. In this new season, it's a woman officer, who is willing to bend the rules a bit. Just like the previous seasons, the creators have once again done their best to turn this season into an exciting story. Just like we're used to.
Lucifer
After his exile to Netflix, we haven't lost sight of this sympathetic devil. At his new home, the fallen angel amongst normal humans has managed to keep the focus on him. Even though his life is a bit better than the average person. Nonetheless, his departure from hell has caused some problems.
Lupin
The French Lupin is one of those crime series where the criminal is actually the most sympathetic person. This thief is inspired by the French gentleman thief Arsene Lupin. He steals in order to find the truth behind the false accusations against his father, who was jailed for theft - unjustly - when our 'hero' was still a child.
Unforgotten
For years, the Brits have succeeded in getting decent crime series on our television. Unforgotten is one of those crime series. In the fourth season, too, they manage to unleash a lot of emotions in the viewers.
These were all ten nominees that were nominated by you, the writing team and myself. Do you want to pick something else? You can always use a wildcard. Good luck voting!
