Series of the Year 2022 - Best Actor

Series of the Year 2022 - Best Actor

This column supports the Series of the Year election 2022 and focuses on the best actor of the year. You can vote for your favorite actor and others, between Monday, January 2, and Sunday 5 February.
Good acting is an art. Good acting can suddenly revive a mediocre series. Good acting is therefore rewarded every year. Not only because of the big film and TV awards in Hollywood, also because of the MySeries Series of the Year elections! The Best Actor nominees were chosen based on input from many. The readers of MySeries have had a major influence on the selection through the monthly polls. In addition, all reviewers have made their selection. This resulted in a nice list.

Below, in alphabetical order, are the top six nominated best actors from 2022;

Antony Starr - The Boys

Since the premiere of The Boys in 2019, Antony Starr has been living up to all expectations. His portrayal of Homelander is diabolical, ominous and intriguing. Mostly just incredibly good. I am very curious about what he will do next season of The Boys, because the end of the third season promises a lot for his character. A deserved nomination!

Bob Odenkirk - Better Call Saul

Bob Odenkirk suffered a heart attack on the set of hit series Better Call Saul. It was a close call. Fortunately, everything turned out well and next to that, the last season of Better Call Saul has also been completed. Odenkirk has once again done a fantastic job and for the last time he has been nominated for his role in Better Call Saul.

Evan Peters - Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story

It was a real controversy this year; because do you have to make a series about a serial killer? Aren't we glorifying this man's actions? These are all valid questions, but they do not alter the fact that Evan Peters' acting performances in this series were excellent. Another fantastic collaboration between Peters and Ryan Murphy.

Oscar Isaac - Marvel's Moon Knight

Since Marvel started making Disney+ series alongside the blockbuster movies, many actors and actresses have had the chance to better showcase their talents. Last year it was Elizabeth Olsen who stole the show in WandaVision, this year it's Oscar Isaac in Moon Knight. While the series in general certainly deserves the critical acclaim, in my opinion, Isaac's acting is superb. He switches with ease and believably between the different personalities of his character, very clever!

Paddy Considine - House of the Dragon

If anyone was playing the role of his life this year, it was Paddy Considine as King Viserys II in House of the Dragon. What a performance! Each episode Considine shows a different side of the king. Not necessarily in personality, but the physical acting is beautiful to watch. Cheers!

Writer's choice
Because it is not possible to vote with a wildcard in this category, I would like to nominate my own writer's choice as a wildcard.

Kit Connor - Heartstopper

Heartstopper has stolen many hearts this year. I, therefore, thought that this young actor certainly deserved a place in this line-up. With an Emmy in the bag for his role as Nick Nelson in Heartstopper, Connor's year probably couldn't go wrong anyway. While we wait for the next season of Heartstopper, you can already enjoy the voice of Connor in His Dark Materials. He plays the role of Pan, the daemon of Lyra.

These were all six nominees nominated by the readers, the writers, and myself. Good luck voting!
