Barbaren
The second German series in this list, but set 2000 years earlier than Babylon Berlin. Barbarians is set in 9 AD, during the Roman Imperial campaign of Germania. Three Roman legions and their auxiliaries are led by Publius Quinctilius Varus, while Arminius, a Germanic chieftain trained in Roman military tactics, unites the Germanic tribes against their southern invaders. The three cooperating Germanic tribes try to repel the advancing Roman army by ambushing them. Does your vote go to the second season of Barbarians?

Borgen
After nine years, the well-known Danish political series Borgen came with a fourth season. We see Brigitte Nyborg again, who is now the Danish foreign minister. This season is all about the oil discovered in Greenland, part of Denmark. Nyborg gets into a tricky joust. She has to negotiate the distribution of the oil money while Russia and China also meddle with the black gold. Actually, Nyborg is completely against drilling for oil, but that could cost her her job. What follows is political intrigue, tons of stress, subtle negotiations, and brutal power politics. Is this season enough for first place after so many years?

Elite
Can say that there are those series of which you constantly wonder why on earth you (still) watch it. Yet there is an undeniable attraction that keeps you looking. Let's throw it on a genuine guilty pleasure. The Spanish youth drama Elite is the perfect example of this. The fifth and sixth seasons were broadcast in 2022, but you can safely say that the story is miles away from the normal life of the average teenager. The characters are almost without exception spoiled, cold, calculating, and only concerned with themselves. Enough for first place?

Fauda
More than two years after the third season of the Israeli series Fauda, we were finally able to see how things continue with protagonist Doron, his team and the Palestinians. After all, the action series shows both sides of the Israel-Palestine conflict. Hezbollah activists from Lebanon and Palestinian militants in the West Bank throw things into chaos, leaving you on the edge of your seat.

L'Amica Geniale
In 2022, the third season of L'Amica Geniale/The genius girlfriend/My Brilliant Friend was broadcast. The series is unique as an image of the time alone. After the oppressive fifties and the cheerful sixties, Lila and Lenù have now arrived in the turbulent seventies. Everything looks stunningly beautiful again. The suit department could indulge in turtlenecks, miniskirts and open shirts, and the car supplier has also outdone itself. A parade of beautiful Fiats and Alfas tears through the screen. There is a fight for freedom and equality, but do these new achievements also apply to Lila and Lenù?

Tehran
In Tehran, Tamar plays an agent of the Israeli secret service Mossad who goes undercover in the Iranian capital to bring down the air defenses there by hacking into a computer system. That should allow the Israeli Air Force to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities. But that plan failed miserably. The agent stays behind in Tehran and has to do everything possible to stay out of the clutches of the Iranian secret service. No less than three Israeli series this year, is this the most exciting?
The Silent Sea
After Squid Game, Netflix has considerably expanded its range of South Korean titles and this year came the space series The Silent Sea. This series starring Gong Yoo (Squid Game) is well received by the viewers. The highs of The Silent Sea are really strong, and the series manages to have a few lows at the same time. A five or six episode version would probably have been better. But audiences who enjoy this genre will be happy to have watched it.
Young Royals
This year we saw the sequel to the life of Prince Wilhelm of Sweden. And just like last year, Young Royals is participating in the election again. After the incriminating video from the first season, we see Wilhelm return to the boarding school. He is no longer very good friends with his cousin and what is left of the love for Simon? Did you also enjoy this season so much and can't wait for the announced third season. Then vote for this series.
