Series of the Year 2022 - Best Actress

This column supports the Series of the Year election 2022 and focuses on the best actress of the year. You can vote for your favorite actor and others, between Monday, January 2, and Sunday 5 February.
What would a series of the year election be without putting the actors and actresses in those great (or disappointing) series in the proverbial spotlight? Well, that's what we do!

It is my honor to choose six (five + one wildcard, more on that in a moment) pearls of acting performance from all those great actresses. In the category of actors and actresses, five nominations are chosen according to the writers and users, and the writer of this column may also use a wildcard. So a little personal touch. Let's get to the nominees quickly!

Below, in alphabetical order, are the top six nominated best actresses from 2022;

Elizabeth Debicki

When you see the photos of the series and the originals, it's almost impossible to tell Elizabeth Debicki and Princess Diana apart. But the great performance does not stop there. The acting is so refined and detailed that Elizabeth received praise and honor everywhere for this magnificent performance in The Crown. A justified nomination.

Milly Alcock

After some years of absence, the dragons are back, and how! Almost everyone, except for a few critics ;), was impressed by the level. And certainly of leading lady Milly Alcock. The young actress manages to portray the complexity of the character very credibly. With me, many will be slightly disappointed in the time jump that the series made after a number of episodes.

Rhea Seehorn

I'm almost afraid to say it, but I haven't seen Better Call Saul. I know, how dare I call myself a serial junkie without having seen this. Apologies in advance. But if I have to believe my co-writers, Rhea Seehorn puts in another fantastic performance this final season. And I blindly trust my MySeries companions, so this will be a very deserved nomination!

Tatiana Maslany

The series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law received a lot of negative criticism, especially because of the special effects. But leading actress Tatiana Maslany was widely praised, and rightly so! Because of that, this Emmy winner is on this list. We already knew that she could act after Orphan Black, but that she also had such good comedic timing was a welcome surprise!

Zendaya

Yes, what can I add to the many praises? It's not for nothing that Zendaya is the youngest double(!) Emmy winner ever. Also this season of Euphoria, she knows how to make an incredible impression with Rue. I think she has the best chance of winning!

Schrijverskeuze;

Jenna Ortega

The unexpectedly biggest monster hit of this year is definitely the Netflix series Wednesday. Everyone saw something special coming with the genius and idiosyncratic director Tim Burton, but the surprise was lady Jenna Ortega. She blew everyone away with her lurid, sophisticated portrayal of Wednesday. With great pride, also because my other favorite of this year was already nominated, this is my wildcard!

A lot of things were disappointing this year, in many ways, but in terms of acting, we were blessed. Wishing you lots of wisdom in making all the difficult choices!

These were all six nominees nominated by the readers, the writers, and myself. Good luck voting!
