Spotlight On: Jason Sudeikis

Spotlight On: Jason Sudeikis

Lights off, spotlight on! Time to see which series Jason Sudeikis also has on his resume.
A good comedian, we can call Jason Sudeikis that if we look at his resume. A resume with a decent amount of quality series and shows in which Sudeikis was indirectly or very closely involved.

When Sudeikis is in his early twenties, he starts a career in show business. In many cases that is on the big screen, in movies. He also frequently displays his comic talent in great variety shows. He does that for the first time at Late Night with Conan O'Brien. It's 1998 then.

In 2003 he can be seen for the first time in the show that made him a famous person in one fell swoop: Saturday Night Live. The immensely popular sketch show has been running for more than 48 seasons and is still very popular with the public. Sudeikis plays a multitude of different roles - something the skits inevitably entail. Some notable people he personifies and who have passed by in his sketches are Joe Biden, George W. Bush, Adam Lambert, Jesus and Zeus.

Where Sudeikis frequently combined his work at Saturday Night Live with other projects - both films and series - he has been taking a different approach since 2020. You used to see him play briefly in series such as Wainy Days and The Line. And what about comedies like Children's Hospital and 30 Rock? In the latter, his recurring character Floyd effortlessly goes along with the craziness of the television program that is central to the comedy of the same name.

Sudeikis also made appearances on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, while also increasingly focusing on voice acting. For example, at the end of the zeroes and the beginning of the tens you come across the American actor on all kinds of television surfaces - and in films. In addition to Saturday Night Live, which continues, there are specials such as Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update Thursday, you can hear him in animated series such as Robot Chicken and - frequently - on The Cleveland Show. You can also see Sudeikis in comedies such as Eastbound & Down and The Trunk and he plays in films such as Horrible Bosses 2 and We're the Millers.

Via Portlandia, Sudeikis' work also becomes a bit more serious at times. The tragicomedy comes into play here and there, for example in The Last Man on Earth, in which he plays a recurring role. Light-footedness, however, will certainly predominate. We see that in the comedy Great Minds with Dan Harmon and the variety show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Sudeikis voices the title character in the part live-action series Son of Zorn and flashes by in Detroiters, aka Wyatt Cenac and Sidewiped before taking on the one-time role of Richard Nixon in I Love You, America.

He also was the odd one out in his - not exactly recognizable - role as a trooper in The Mandalorian. And with The Mandalorian, we ended up again in the previously mentioned 2020. For the time being, that seems to be the end of Sudeikis at Saturday Night Live. He focuses on other projects - combines differently, not less.

With appearances on At Home with Amy Sedaris and Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? it gets quieter on the small screen. Many programs that require an audience have come to a standstill during that period. Because: corona - right. Sudeikis - like many American actors - will make podcasts. We still hear him in the animated series Hit-Monkey and - on a more serious level - he plays the title role in the Apple series Ted Lasso.

The highly acclaimed comedy partly comes from the head of Sudeikis himself. An American college team coach moves to England. There he becomes a trainer of AFC Richmond, a football club in heavy weather in English professional football. The third season of this Emmy-winning gem will start in mid-March. For many perhaps a slightly lesser-known jewel, an absolute must for those lucky enough to have Apple+ at home. Ted Lasso, that's where you score.
