Tell us about yourself.
My name is Lucas Verbunt, I am 27 years old, and I work in the field of communications. I am a great art lover and can often be found in museums, theaters, or concert halls. I also enjoy reading a good book and watching films and series.
How did you discover MySeries, and what made you decide to sign up as a reviewer?
I have been a member of MySeries for over eleven years now. I learned about the website through a classmate of mine. I'm a sucker for lists and keeping track of things, so I was quickly sold. I wrote my first review in September 2018 after seeing a call for reviewers on the website. I thought, why not? That's already over seven years ago.
What was your first review, and why did you choose that series?
My first review was for the first season of the Netflix series The Innocents. A series that was short-lived and which I can't remember much about. The choice was quite random. It was probably the series I was watching at the time of the call. It's funny that I mentioned in that review that I wanted to watch all Netflix Originals, which might have been a realistic goal in 2018. Not anymore in 2025!

What was the most enjoyable review for you to write?
One of the best reviews I've written is for Fellow Travelers. If I may say so myself. I thought it was a fantastic series, and I tried to include some history and background in the review. It was fun to read more about that.
Which review was the hardest to articulate or the most unpleasant to write?
I don't have a specific review that I found difficult, but in general, I sometimes find it challenging to write reviews about a series you don't have a strong opinion about. Often, I sign up to write about a series before I've watched it. After watching, it turns out you're somewhat indifferent about it. Then it's tough to find much to say. There's so much content coming to market these days. I think it's not surprising that you don't have a strong opinion about everything.

With which review did you reach that magical milestone of 100 reviews?
It's not the most sparkling review, but that was the first episode of Winx Club: The Magic is Back. A series I'm, of course, way too old for, but out of nostalgic curiosity, I gave it a look. I wasn't super enthusiastic.
Which review did you wish you had written yourself, but another reviewer beat you to it?
This doesn't happen very often, and sometimes I write the review anyway. Or I just choose something else. There's so much to write about.
Have you ever written a review on request?
Sometimes we receive requests in the writers' portal inbox. Recently, for example, I wrote a review about the Marvel series Ironheart. There was a screener available for it, which I watched and then reviewed. That was quite fun. You received a link to a special secure Disney environment, and I had to sign something as well. It's amusing to see how that works from behind the scenes.

What's the lowest score you've ever given in a review?
The lowest score I've given is a 6.0. If I don't like a series or don't find it good, I usually don't finish watching it. And a first episode often gets the benefit of the doubt from me. I also don't start series that I already think won't be any good. So, you won't often find outright failures from me.
What's the nicest reaction you've ever received on a review?
It's nice to receive reactions at all; it means your review is being read. There's no specific reaction that stands out to me, but I'd say: keep leaving reactions! It's fun.
Do you also enjoy reading reviews from other MySeries reviewers?
Absolutely! Especially when someone has a completely different opinion than I do. Additionally, I find it technically interesting how others shape their reviews linguistically.
Have you experienced many changes between your first and your 100th review?
I've been writing reviews since 2018, when I was nineteen years old. I'm now 27, so I would hope my writing style and personality have developed somewhat. Even if it's just becoming more mature. I think you can see that reflected in my reviews.
Stop or continue?
I'm going to continue for a while! I still really enjoy doing it.
Do you want to tell the readers of your reviews anything, or do you have anything to add that you couldn't include in these questions?
The writing team is incredibly fun, and every year we take the time to discuss the website and how we can further develop it. So, it's not only fun to do, but you also gain great contacts from it!
