Annual TV series awards 2016 (Introduction)

Christmas is almost here and the year 2016 has just flew by, and what is a more fun way to end the year than reviews and polls of just about everything of 2016? At MySeries.tv we have our own reviews and polls, because the Annual TV Series Awards are coming!

2016 was an interesting year for TV series. The number of series is growing day by day and we see some remarkable trends. Big movie stars decide that the small screen can be a lot of fun too. For example we saw Anthony Hopkins this year in Westworld. The popularity of superhero series does not seem to end too. Now we can watch four different heroes on The CW and the Marvel Universe is still growing. Streaming services start producing their own content more and more. This leads both to new gems, but also to horribly bad series.

Of course we choose the best series of the past year, but some series are better represented in a more specific category. That’s why we have twelve categories in which you can vote. The categories are:

- Best series of 2016
- Best superhero series
- Best comedy series
- Best new series
- Best miniseries
- Best crime series
- Best sci-fi series
- Best binge-worthy series
- Best animated series
- Best Dutch/Flemish series
- Most disappointing series
- Best ending series
- Guilty Pleasure

For each category our editors have written a column and nominated a number of series. Starting tomorrow we will publish a new column for a specific category every day. You can vote from Thursday 5 January until Saturday 4 February. You can only vote for one series per category.

But what if your favourite series is not nominated in a category? Do not panic. This year we added a new feature: the wild card. If your favourite series is not in a category, you can vote for it using the wild card. You can use this three times during the entire election.

We will announce the results at the beginning of February. We wish everyone happy holidays and good luck with voting!
