Attack on Titan

We were able to enjoy a new season of Attack on Titan again this year. The season was praised by both the manga readers and the anime viewers. The tight animation, plus the seamlessly reproduced story, made Attack on Titan a stunner of an anime in 2019.
BoJack Horseman

BoJack Horseman was first seen on Netflix in 2014. Almost six years ago. Bojack still manages to capture us with its absurd humor, its own animation style and a world that is very reminiscent of contemporary Hollywood. This year we already saw the first half of season six. Again a jewel in the animation world and worthy of a nomination.
Carmen Sandiego

A brand new series released this year by Netlflix, which is based on the fictional character from an educational franchise from Brøderbund Software. Carmen Sandiego manages to present an educational series in a new, refreshing way. Something that has not been done before.
Disenchantment

If it is not the Simpsons, then it is Disenchantment that is in the top ten of this year. The second season of Disenchantment is a bit less like the Simpsons and Futurama, and already has more story and more character development. However, it retains the same, iconic elements of the Simpsons and Futurama. Which is a plus and something that ensures that Disenchantment is also nominated.

Dororo

A Japanese anime which managed to reach the list with its well-put together story and contemporary animation style that strengthens the world of Dororo. The mix between the real past of Japan and the folk stories, plus the good mix between action, drama and myth, ensure that Dororo has also managed to secure a place in the top ten of 2019.
The Dragon Prince

Again, this Netflix series has been nominated for animation series of the year. The Dragon Prince premiered last September (2018) and this year we were able to enjoy season two and three. By showing a good story and maintaining a rich animation style, the series still manages to reach young and old. It is for a good reason that it is seen as a mix between Avatar: The Last Airbender and Game of Thrones.

Love, Death & Robots

Love, Death & Robots: you hate it or you love it. This series collects short animated stories. The stories vary widely, from horror to fantasy to comedy. The series is nominated thanks to those diverse stories, but also the diverse animation styles. No episode is the same, both in animation style and in story. That is where the power of Love, Death & Robots lies.

My Hero Academia

Season four of the highly acclaimed anime My Hero Academia is well underway and manages to keep the majority satisfied. The studio (Bones) has once again managed to create a typical shounen anime where the dialogue is a bit wonky, but the action and the underlying storytelling make up for that. That is why the series still deserves a place in the top ten.
Rick and Morty

Just like My Hero Academia, Rick and Morty is also in its fourth season. Two years ago, Birigitis said about Rick and Morty that it is one of the most talked about animation/comedy series of the moment and that is still the case. People keep coming back to see which adventure the grandfather and grandson are going to experience. And of course the rich characters, the good storylines and the unknown possibilities also contribute to this.

Undone

The makers of BoJack Horseman have once again managed to make a new series that is described as 'a groundbreaking and genre bending animated series'. The animation style of Undone is very unique and something you have to get yourself accustomed with. Once accustomed, it is a series filled with mystery, emotion, authenticity and elements that make you think. Certainly worth the nomination.
These are the ten nominated animated series of 2019! Now it is up to you to vote. Good luck!
