March 2020: MySeries in 500 words

In March, the economy of the world was slowed down. Fighting the corona-virus was the only thing that mattered now. Preventing that others would be infected and end up sick.
A little more than a week ago, I was in a supermarket doing my grocery shopping. It was quiet, some shelves were still rather empty, and the people around here seemed to respect the new rules; keep your distance! But then the very kind cashier said the following; "U can take one of those bags, miss." After that, she pointed to two big trolleys filled with yellow plastic bags. "What's in it then?" I asked, surprised. She was laughing and looked at me and said; "Toilet paper, miss." Now I was sure. The world will never be the same.

The same applies to watching series. Due to the crisis, more and more people browsed around on MySeries. People stay at home, and because of that, they have more time to watch and enjoy series. People did that, a lot. Netflix, Amazon and various other streaming services had over 60% more viewers than usual (Dutch data). This is the time to catch up. But what about those who didn't have a 'to watch' list as of yet, or what about those who had already watched that entire list?

Alongside our fantastic writers, we started with our top-five lists in March. Our amazing writers immediately started once I had asked them if they were willing to write a list. These lists receive a lot of views. There are some personal lists, but also genre-specific lists. Enough to keep you busy till at least the 1st of June. One of our writers even advised to go for a walk now and then—great advice and doable.

But the land of series is turned upside down. Series that remain unfinished due to production being halted. In Hollywood, at least 120.000 people who work behind the screen are currently without a job, and it's far from over. But production hasn't just stopped in Hollywood; also in Britain, The Netherlands, France, Australia and New-Zealand. Premiere dates and starting dates are delayed or shifted all the time.

But there are some exceptions. And luckily we'll still have plenty to watch. Some series have even started early. As a fan of series, there's no need to get bored. Plenty to see and plenty of lists to keep you occupied till the summer holiday. And even longer if need be. Although it may be wise to read a good book or watch a movie every once in a while, so read through the top-five lists, a series that you've never seen before may be mentioned. Due to the lists, I've already added a couple of series to my list. Because of that, my list isn't getting shorter at all.

Stay safe and healthy,

Mandy
