May April 2020: MySeries in 500 words

Even though The CW, FOX and CBS have already released the schedule for the upcoming 2020-2021 season, it remains a question when this television season will actually begin. Will it be September? Maybe even later. The coronavirus keeps us occupied, and tha
Most series that were shortened don't seem to have a plan regarding the remaining episodes. However, good news has also been released.

Tom Ellis signed the contract, a deal has been made. An extremely popular series that takes place in 24 hours will soon release on Netflix, internationally. Two films that were made and are based on series will also release on Netflix and Amazon. Apple Tv+ and Disney+ try to gain subscribers with heaps of nostalgia. Not bad for a month that hardly featured any form of production.

There is no news regarding series that would have their final season during this year, but have yet to receive a proper ending. There may be some news on this particular topic this summer, but you will have to keep in mind that it isn't unlikely for these shows to end in 2021. It is no disaster for the procedural series that they weren't able to round things off properly, but it is often frowned upon if a season has an open ending.

I've been asked various times if series are produced and how that's being done. I don't have a choice but answer that I don't know. I have read some rumours that cast and crew of some series has been quarantined for two weeks, after which two or three months of production occurred, or will occur. Whether or not that is actually true, I'm not entirely certain of. This could be a possible solution. If that actually turns out to be true, then we should expect a lot of delays for the 2021 season.

There will also be a lot less series in the upcoming fall-winter season. This is purely because the entire pilot season didn't happen. The schedules of the big five - ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and The CW - will look vastly different. For now, it's all speculation and waiting. I suspect that we will probably get information as late as August regarding the series that were supposed to start in the 2020-2021 season.

For now, there is plenty to report about series, even if it isn't as much as normal. Most of what we see is early renewals, cancellations or date reveals. And seeing as San Diego Comic-Con has been cancelled, I don't expect a whole lot of news to come our way this June. We'll have to make do with the series we currently have, and it is a great time to try out series that you originally weren't planning on watching or were still on your watchlist. Honestly, my watchlist just keeps getting bigger.

And even if the fall season isn't all that great, we can watch those series we originally wouldn't have time for. This may not actually be a bad thing.

Stay safe and healthy,

Mandy
