CBS orders fewer episodes of scripted series

The 2019-2020 season was shortened, but now it appears that the upcoming season will be shorter as well.

CBS has drastically reduced the number of episodes of eight scripted procedural series. Normally, these series would have seasons that have 22 episodes, but due to the ongoing corona countermeasures, CBS finds itself forced to reduce the amount. Eight series will have only sixteen-eighteen episodes in the upcoming 2020-2021 season.

Blue Bloods, Bull (2016), The Neighborhood, Seal Team, Magnum, P.I. and the NCIS-franchise will not only premiere at a much later point, but they'll also be shorter. The Unicorn, which received a premiere date at a later point, will remain at thirteen episodes.

And it is expected that CBS will not be the only network to reduce the number of episodes in various series. ABC's Black-ish and Fox's Last Man Standing will likely receive fewer episodes as well. All networks had to deal with various production delays due to Covid-19.

Down below, we've indicated the changed* CBS series;

Blue Bloods (16)
Bull (2016) (16)
Magnum, P.I. (16)
The Neighborhood (18)
Seal Team (16)
NCIS (16)
NCIS: Los Angeles (18)
NCIS: New Orleans (16)
