‘The Wonder Years’ And ‘Home Economics’ Get Full Season Orders From ABC

ABC has picked up more episodes of its rookie The Wonder Years revival and sophomore comedy Home Economics. Each received a nine-episode back order, bringing their pickups to full-season 22 episodes.
The television series Wonder Years was inspired by the original series from 1988. This incarnation features Don Cheadle, Elisha "EJ" Williams, Dule Hill, Saycon Sengbloh, Laura Kariuki, Julian Lerner, Amari O'Neil and Milan Ray. It follows the Black middle-class Williams family in Montgomery, AL, during the turbulent late 1960s. Dean Williams (Elisha “E.J.” Williams) is the 12-year-old at the center of the coming-of-age story, and Don Cheadle narrates as the voice of adult Dean. His hopeful and humoristic memories about his past focus on the ups and downs of growing up at that time and place, just like the friends, the laughter and the lessons Dean found.

The first season of The Wonder Years has an average of 2.63 million viewers.

Home Economics stars include Topher Grace, Caitlin McGee, Jimmy Tatro, Karla Souza, Sasheer Zamata, Shiloh Bearman, Jordyn Curet, Chloe Jo Rountree and JeCobi Swain. The series shines a light on the heartwarming but super awkward and sometimes frustrating relationship between three adult brothers and sisters of the Hayworth family. Connor (Tatro) is the youngest and most successful brother or sister in the family. He runs his own investment company and his marriage fell apart. He has a daughter named Gretchen (Bearman). Tom (Grace) is the middle brother or sister and is a middle-class writer who is struggling. He is married to Marina (Souza), a former lawyer. They have three children. Sarah (McGee) is the oldest brother or sister and is an unemployed child therapist who is barely getting around. She is married to Denise (Zamata), a teacher.

The second season of Home Economics has an average of 2 million viewers. In comparison to the first season, this is a 22% decrease.
