Upcoming Walking Dead spin-off series and more series not affected by WGA writers' strike

The Walking Dead spin-offs and other series from AMC Networks, among others, are not expected to be affected by the Writers Guild of America strike.
The WGA is on strike due to a long list of issues in an impasse with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. When the writers went on strike in New York and Los Angeles on Tuesday, the entertainment world braced for disruption, with late night talk shows and Saturday Night Live already suspended. More well-known series such as Netflix hit Stranger Things are facing potential delays.

However, there is one entertainment giant that is not disturbed by the WGA strike. The Wrap reports that AMC Networks has confirmed that their upcoming series, including their long-awaited spin-offs from The Walking Dead universe, are not expected to be affected. AMC's Anne Rice series, including Interview with the Vampire and Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches are also not expected to be affected by the strike.

It has already been confirmed that shows like Yellowjackets, Stranger Things, Abbott Elementary and Cobra Kai will face delays as writers go on strike and can't continue working on scripts for upcoming episodes.

However, it has been confirmed that a few major series will not be affected by the strike. This list of lucky series includes the second season of Disney+'s Andor, the second season of HBO's House of the Dragon, and the second season of Prime Video's Good Omens, all of which have confirmed scripts ready for filming. Because the WGA writers are on strike, these projects obviously cannot be rewritten, which could lead to disruptions in the future.

The Walking Dead: Dead City

The Walking Dead universe has been lucky enough to avoid strikes, as production on the eighth season of Fear The Walking Dead and its new spin-offs Dead City, Daryl Dixon, and the untitled Rick & Michonne spin-off had progressed far enough to not to be affected. Of those series, Rick & Michonne still has the most work to do, and will not be released until 2024, but the necessary writing must be completed in time to get the series off the ground.

It remains to be seen what later problems may arise as the strike prevents writers from being on set and sometimes necessary rewrites take place. But for now, it looks like the Walking Dead universe will be able to stick to its schedule, with the final season of Fear The Walking Dead set to premiere on Sunday, May 14, 2023, The Walking Dead: Dead City set to premiere on Sunday, June 18, 2023. coming out, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon coming later in 2023 and The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne series still scheduled for 2024.
