Corona crisis; which series to watch? Top 5 hospital series

It has become a well-known image, empty supermarket shelves, empty squares and shopping malls. People work from home or not at all. How can you spend that time? We have made a top 5 displaying series you could watch in these peculiar times.
We all applaud those who work in healthcare. Uncertain times have arrived, and everyone could technically suddenly find themselves in the hospital, infected with the coronavirus. But which hospital series is currently the most comforting to watch?

5. M*A*S*H

Just a little bit different than usual, this CBS hospital series takes place in the fifties during the Korean war. M*A*S*H is an abbreviation of Mobile Army Surgical Hospital but was cynically called Mobile American Slaughter House. It ran from 1972 till 1991 and had 11 seasons consisting of a total of 251 episodes. Alan Alda, Loretta Switt, Mike Farell and Davis Ogden Stiers portrayed important characters in the series that won 14 Emmy awards. The final episode of this dramedy is one of the most well-watched episodes ever. M*A*S*H can be seen on Hulu.

4. New Amsterdam (2018)

This series revolves around Dr Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold), the new medical director of one of the oldest public hospitals in the United States. New Amsterdam (2018) is decayed, and the hospital is full of greedy, selfish doctors. Goodwin has to change the tide. Next to that, he has to deal with quite a few personal issues. Because the series is based on the book with a true story, Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue hospital, it is realistic.

3. The Good Doctor

The Good Doctor started in October 2017. By now we've had three seasons and a fourth season has already been announced. In the series, we follow a young surgeon, Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), who has Savant syndrome. He has been hired at the pediatric department of a prestigious hospital. The question that forms: can a person who is unable to display empathy or finds it difficult to connect with a patient save their lives?

2. Grey's Anatomy

This hospital series has been going on for sixteen full seasons. There aren't many people who don't know Grey's Anatomy. But if you haven't seen it, this is probably a good time to start with this heartwarming series. It revolves around Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and her work at the (non-existent) Seattle Grace Hospital.

1. ER

For many, this is (still) the best hospital series ever. ER launched the careers of George Clooney, Julianna Margulies, Noah Wyle, Goran Visnjic and Maura Tierney. The NBC series took place in the Country General Hospital in Chicago and was embraced by viewers all around the world for fifteen seasons.

Next to these five series, there are a lot more hospital series you can watch. For example, you could try Chicago Med (NBC), Code Black (CBS) and The Resident (FOX). Soon there will be more top-five lists for you to pass the time.
