Corona crisis; which series to watch? Bo Verhoef's top 5

It has become a well-known image, empty supermarket shelves, empty squares and shopping malls. People work from home or not at all. How can you spend that time? We have made a top 5 displaying series you could watch in these peculiar times.

If you're going to have to spend so much time at home, you may as well spend it well. I love series that have a lot of seasons, as that means you can binge-watch for a long time. Naturally, there are quite a few series that have a lot of seasons. This is why I've created a top five that consists of series that have been going on for quite some time. Enjoy watching in the next couple of weeks!

5. The Blacklist

I still remember that my parents had started watching this series. The Blacklist was airing on Dutch television. I was sitting on the couch while my parents were watching the season finale of the first season. It was incredibly exhilarating, and from that moment on, I was hooked. I must admit that I'm not entirely up to speed, as I feel that the series gets a bit repetitive at times. Nonetheless, this is a series on which you can spend many hours.

4. Chicago Fire

Another series of the NBC network. I love series that revolve around those who do good in the world; doctors, firefighters, officers, detectives and I can go on for a bit. This series revolves around the struggles of the firemen and paramedics of the 25th battalion of the Chicago Fire department. I think that this series provides an interesting look into daily life in a fire station. Of course, it is still a series, but you feel like you're part of the crew. A definite recommendation!

3. Homeland

For many years you can feel for Saul Berendsen and Carrie Mathison. Two CIA agents who seem to uncover one terroristic plot after the other. The series started in 2011, and at the moment it is airing its final season. A fascinating series. Every season there are a couple of episodes where I'm on the edge of my seat. A definite recommendation if you're inside all the time.

2. MasterChef Australia

Maybe this isn't the most obvious series, but I'm always looking forward to the next season. This is a cooking show as it should be. Interesting candidates who become better chefs because of solid advice, cool workshops and constructive criticism. The same presenters presented the first eleven seasons. Starting from next season, there will be three new presenters, and all the contestants will be former contestants who are battling it out once again.

1. Grey's Anatomy

I was ten when this series started. I still remember that my mom and brother were highly focused when an episode of this series was on. I didn't start watching it till I was seventeen. Because of that, I was able to watch a lot of seasons in a row and since that it has been my favourite series ever. The characters, the storylines, the setting, the music, the chemistry between all of the actors. Everything in this series is just right. Grey's Anatomy is a medical drama series that takes place in a fictional hospital in Seattle. It is currently airing its sixteenth season.

Naturally, there are way more seasons that have more than three seasons. I always think it's nice when a series consists of multiple seasons, as it allows you to get into the story. It's a lot easier to get to know the characters. Some of my other favourites are Criminal Minds, Suits, Downton Abbey, Gilmore Girls, The Good Wife, How to Get Away with Murder and White Collar. These are just a few, but the actual list is neverending. I think you will be able to get through the time without feeling bored. Still don't have a clue as to what you should watch? Don't worry. There will be a lot more lists.
