Corona crisis; which series to watch? Top 5 best unknown Scandinavian series

It has become a well-known image, empty supermarket shelves, empty squares and shopping malls. People work from home or not at all. How can you spend that time? We have made a top 5 displaying series you could watch in these peculiar times.
Most of you watch American series, but did you know that Scandinavian series are quite good as well. The Bridge (2011) and The Killing (Forbrydelsen) is known by most. I must admit, generally, storylines develop a bit slower and more attention is given to individual characters. I would like to introduce the following Scandinavian series to you.

5. Øyevitne

Øyevitne is a Norwegian crime series from 2014. It revolves around two fifteen-year-old boys who witness a liquidation. For them and their families, it means the start of a rollercoaster of events that'll change their lives for the worse. The boys are afraid that the perpetrator saw them and will come after them. Maybe this sounds familiar, as an American remake has already been made, Eyewitness (US). It consists of six episodes.

4. Moscow Noir

Meet Tom Blixen. When a young businessman wants to start his career in an investment company, only he decides to invest in a rather unusual way. He knows too much because soon bullets are flying all around him and during a deal, various people around him are killed. He ends up in a power struggle between millionaires, politicians and oligarchs. This Swedish series takes place in Moscow, which pretty much means that the spoken language is Russian for most of the time. Don't let that scare you away as this is a series you don't want to miss.

3. Real Humans

Real Humans (Äkta Människor) is a Swedish science fiction series. You don't need to enjoy science fiction to enjoy this series. The story revolves around humanoid robots, who are called hubots. They do the housekeeping, help children with their homework, work in factories and even act as a coach in a sports team. And then there are hubots who appear to create their own path.... A strong, original and critical series.

2. Ride Upon the Storm

Ride Upon the Storm is a decent contemporary drama. That is mainly due to actor Lars Mikkelsen, who portrays a charismatic preacher who isn't that loved in his household. You can't help but both hate and love this man. The family tension leads to wars in the Middle-East and results in furious clashes between the characters and the ways of life they represent.

1. Tjockare an vatten

Tjockare an vatten is a Swedish drama. After the death of their mother, the three Waldemar heirs have to run their family pension during an entire season, otherwise, they won't inherit anything at all. But how strong are those family ties when unforeseen events threaten the house and the family? Love, hate and betrayal are the main storylines. The wounds of the Waldemar family are difficult to heal. Whether or not all family members can make some sacrifices remains an unanswered question. I was happy to see that the series will have a third season.

If you can't have enough of these kinds of series, here are some more for you to enjoy; State of Happiness, Blinded, Blekingegade, Hamarinn, Alex, The Hunters and The Inner Circle. Soon there will be more top-five lists for you to fill your time.
