5. Anne with an E
This Canadian series is based on the famous Anne of Green Gables book series. A delightful, heartwarming series about a young orphan girl who moves in with her new family. Anne's rich imagination gives her ample room to cope with her problems. All three seasons can be found on Netflix, except for Canada.
4. Godless (2017)
Westerns. You either like them, or you don't. This miniseries is a great addition to the genre. Next to that, it has a wonderful feminist atmosphere. The seven episodes hauled in several Emmy's.
3. Locke & Key
This series recently released on Netflix and has already become one of my personal favourites. A great combination of urban fantasy and mild horror. The Locke children move to Key house after their father died, which is where he grew up. Once they're there, they find magical keys that turn their lives upside down.
2. Sense8
This truly is one of my most favourite series ever. A beautiful ode to humanity, sexuality and fraternity. A project that had a cast and crew consisting of people all around the world; from Korea till Chicago, from Germany till Mexico. Unfortunately, it was cancelled prematurely, but luckily it received a decent final episode.
1. The Witcher
The new fantasy series of 2019. The first season was a bit difficult to follow, but I'm sure that will change in the upcoming season. I can't wait to see how Yennefer's story will go on (she is my favourite character!).
Naturally, there are quite a few other series on Netflix. For example, the science fiction series Altered Carbon or the comedy One Day at a Time (2017). Have you already seen all of these? Or is this particular type of series not for you? Don't worry. There will be more top-five lists coming soon.
