NBC is planning to use the Summer Olympics to launch the final season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. This means that it'll air outside of the traditional broadcasting season. The sixth and final season of the series will consist of eighteen episodes. According to Frances Berwick, NBCU's president, Entertainment Networks and Susan Rovner (photo) and Entertainment Content, the comedy series will have a satisfying conclusion.
As for NBC’s decision not to have a single comedy on in the fall, Susan Rovner, NBCU’s Chairman, Entertainment Content, noted NBC’s “long history and legacy of comedy” and said that she and her team wanted to give NBC’s comedies “the best chance” for success by using the platforms of the Winter Olympics and the Super Bowl to launch them. That includes returning freshmen Young Rock, Kenan and Mr. Mayor as well as new entries American Auto and Grand Crew.

NBC hasn't decided about the future of Debris, Good Girls, Manifest and Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist.
