The Great writer Ava Pickett's television project is now in early stages of development at the British public broadcaster and Paramount+ is no longer involved in the making of the series. The BBC project does not yet have a cast. They are reportedly looking for an upcoming diverse cast, similar to the same broadcaster's Industry, which is co-produced with HBO and stars Myha'la Herrold and Marisa Abela. If it gets the green light, it will be one of the most talked-about projects on the BBC's drama list.
Miramax's television studio focuses on exploiting the distributor's film library and adapting it for the small screen. The company's other projects include Netflix's The Gentlemen, based on the Guy Ritchie film, and a version of the Johnny Depp film Chocolat with Mediawan. Miramax was initially developing a television version of The English Patient for the BBC, but that series is reportedly no longer continuing.
The BBC and Paramount+ both declined to comment.
