ABC has given Women of the Movement the green light

Women of the Movement from Marissa Jo Cerar, Jay-Z and Will Smith has been given the green light by ABC.
On the exact day that the 14-year-old Emmet Till was tragically murdered 65 years ago, ABC has given the green light to a new series called women of the Movement, which revolves around the story surrounding Emmet Till. "This limited series will shine a light on the determined pursuit of justice by Emmett’s mother, Mamie Till Mobley,” said Karey Burke, president, ABC Entertainment. Women of the Movement will premiere on ABC next year.

The first couple of episodes are based on the book Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement by Devery S. Anderson. Gina Prince-Bythewood (Shots Fired) will direct the first episode. Marissa Jo Cerar (The Fosters (2013)) has written the series and will also serve as executive producer. Jay-Z (Noughts and Crosses), Will Smith (Cobra Kai) and Aaron Kaplan (A Million Little Things) are also part of the production team, amongst others.
