The Three-Body Problem will become the first Netflix series for Game of Thrones duo

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss - former Game of Thrones showrunners - are working on their first Netflix series, The Three-Body Problem. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones) signed a contract for Netflix back in 2019. Their first original project for the streaming service has been revealed. The duo is adapting the book The Three-Body Problem and its sequels The Dark Forest and Death's End by Liu Cixin into a series, which will have the same name as the book. The story revolves around the first meeting between humanity and extraterrestrial civilization.

Alexander Woo (True Blood) will be writing the scenario and will also serve as an executive producer. Among others, Rian Johnson (Breaking Bad) and Ram Bergman will also serve as executive producers next to Woo. Ken Liu translated the books The Three-Body Problem and Death's End into English. He and author Liu Cixin will also be involved in the production process.
