The Bay from Larry Teng and Yalun Tu in production at CBS

The Bay - which is described as a blend between The Good Wife and NYPD Blue - has entered production at CBS. The series comes from Larry Teng and Yalun Tu. The Bay has been written by Yalun Tu (Wu Assassins) and is based on a story, which has also been written by Tu and Teng (Nancy Drew (2019)). Teng will direct the series and will serve alongside Tu as executive producer.

The story revolves around two Chinese-American detectives who have just started working together. They strive to overcome their differences in gender, age and cultural, while also trying to solve crimes in San Francisco. The series shows their new partnership and investigates the current model of law enforcement, alongside the people they serve.

The approach to The Bay comes from a personal experience of Teng, who was mostly ashamed of his Chinese ancestry during his teenage years. Ever since he experienced a day at Hawaii Five-0, he became proud of where he came from. He began to embrace it and it showed in his work.
