Pistol is based on the memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol, which was written by the legendary Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones.
In part due to Jones, the United Kingdom ended up in a Punk revolution. Toby Wallace (The Society) will portray the legendary guitarist. Next to that, Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) will portray punk icon Jordan.
The series has been created by Craig Pearce (E Street), alongside Frank Cottrell Boyce (Doctor Who). Both of them have written the series. Danny Boyle (Trust 2018)) will be directing the series for FX. Next to that, Boyle, Pearce and Steve Jones will serve as executive producer. Six episodes of the mini-series will release at some point in the future. An exact date is not yet known. Production is set to begin on the 7th of March.

Next to Wallace and Williams, more cast members have already been revealed. Anson Boon (The Alienist) will portray John Lydon, Louis Partridge (Boomers) will portray Sid Vicious, Jacob Slater will portray Paul Cook, Fabien Frankel (The Serpent) will portray Glen Matlock and Dylan Llewellyn (Derry Girls) will portray Wally Nightingale. Sydney Chandler (Skam Austin) will portray Chrissie Hynde and Emma Appleton (The Witcher) will portray Nancy Spungen.
