Lady in the Lake series has acquired two lead actors

Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong'o will portray the lead characters in Apple TV+'s The Lady in the Lake. Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong'o (photo) will portray the lead characters in the limited series adaptation of Laura Lippman's book Lady in the Lake, which will be made for Apple TV+. The series will be directed by Alma Har'el, who also created the series. Har'el will write the series alongside Dre Ryan (The Man in the High Castle). Lady in the Lake will be produced by Jean-Marc Vallée's Carzyrose and Bad Wolf America, the American branch of the same company that produced His Dark Materials. Endeavour Content is the studio. Har'el will write the pilot episode.



The limited series will take place in Baltimore in the 60s. It features an unsolved murder on a housewife and mother. Maddie Schwartz (Portman, photo) renews her life as an investigative journalist which will result ina collision with Cleo Sherwood (Nyong'o), a hardworking woman who's juggling motherhood, many jobs and a passionate dedication to the progressive Black Baltimore Agenda.
