FX Alien series will not be a Ripley story

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Noah Hawley talked about his upcoming FX Alien series. He's preparing to start production 'next Fall' and has stated that the story will not revolve around Ripley. He also talked about the potential fifth season of Fargo.
The Fargo and Legion creator obviously referred to the iconic character that was portrayed by Sigourney Weaver. Ripley had to deal with a Xenomorph in the original Ridley Scott movie, Alien.

"It’s not a Ripley story," said Hawley (photo), "she’s one of the great characters of all time, and I think the story has been told pretty perfectly, and I don’t want to mess with it.

From Hawley's perspective, the extraterrestrial movies from the 20th century - mainly from Scott, James Cameron and David Fincher - have been 'amazing monster movies' that tried to be more than 'just monster movies'. "They’re about humanity trapped between our primordial, parasitic past and our artificial intelligence future—and they’re both trying to kill us", he said. "Here you have human beings and they can’t go forward and they can’t go back. So I find that really interesting." He said that his vision on the franchise will go a lot deeper, for example by going into inequality by looking at those 'who you send to do the dirty work' versus those 'who send them'.

"You will see what happens when the inequality we’re struggling with now isn’t resolved", added the Alien's creator and executive producer. "If we as a society can’t figure out how to prop each other up and spread the wealth, then what’s going to happen to us?" Hawley also shared that he has already written the first two scripts for the series, which will take place on Earth. Supposedly, it will combine the timeless horror from the original movie with the non-stop action from Cameron's sequel that released in 1986.

During his interview with Vanity Fair, Hawley was also asked about whether or not there's going to be a fifth season of the praised FX crime drama Fargo. "I think so. I don’t have it yet. I have pieces that will have to survive. They’re not connected. I think it would be good to create an ending, and deliberately come to something, knowing it’s the last one and see how one might wrap up this anthology."
