The Villainess in production at Amazon

Amazon Prime Video is creating a series adaptation of The Villainess from 2017. The pilot episode will be written by Francisca Hu (Sleepy Hollow). The movie The Villainess will be adapted into a series by Amazon Studios. In 2019, it was revealed that a series adaptation was in the works. Skybound Entertainment (Fear the Walking Dead) and Next Entertainment World joined forces. Jeong Byeong-Gil directed the movie. He will produce the pilot episode alongside Doug Jung (Dark Blue). Francisca Hu (Sleepy Hollow) will write the pilot episode.

The story revolves around an Asian woman who believes she's adopted and was raised in a small American town by white parents. After a violent incident during a trip to Seoul, she finds out that she has a deadly past that is connected to her parental country. The only way to figure out her true identity is to get entangled with a dark and corrupt organisation.
