The CW orders Nancy Drew spin-off Tom Swift

Tom Swift has been given a straight-to-series order from The CW. The series will be part of the 2021-22 television season. There has been no normal pilot episode for the spin-off. The character Tom Swift was introduced in an episode of Nancy Drew, the episode 'The Celestial Visitor', which was part of the second season. The CW had ordered a script for the pilot. Now, the network has decided to order an entire series. A specific premiere date has not yet been announced.

Tom Swift follows the adventures of a black, gay billionaire inventor who finds himself in a world packed with science-fiction conspiracies and unexplainable events after his father suddenly vanished. Tom decides to find out the truth, which also requires him to leave the comfort of his usual life behind. Tian Richards (Quad) will portray Tom Swift. The series was co-created by Melinda Hsu Taylor (Nancy Drew (2019)), Noga Landau (Nancy Drew (2019)) and Cameron Johnson (Empire).
