STV Studios is going to make a serial film adaptation of the thriller novel Good Girls Die Last

Producer STV Studios (Screw, The Victim) has optioned the upcoming feminist thriller novel Good Girls Die Last and is adapting it for television.
Good Girls Die Last is a darkly comedic feminist thriller, telling the story of Em who, on the day of a record-breaking heat wave, races against time to flee a gridlocked London as a serial killer stalks the streets. Em's life has always been full of men getting their way and today the scorched city is teeming with them, but as her troubled past comes back to haunt her, she refuses to let them win.

Scottish STV Studios has acquired the television rights to Natali Simmonds' debut, which will be published later this year. The company, which is also making the upcoming Apple TV+ drama Criminal Record starring Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo, has recruited Claire Armspach as Head of Drama Development and Sarah Brown as Creative Director of Drama.

Brown said the novel "perfectly captures the 'so-used-to-just-accept-it' sexism that women often face on a daily basis.

STV Studios is the second Scottish production company to adapt a novel for television in as many days, after Shetland writer David Kane and Glasgow-based Channel 4-backed producer Freedom Scripted secured the rights to Denise Mina's Morrow series.
