Television series from The Marlow Murder Club coming from Death In Paradise creator

Robert Thorogood, creator of Death In Paradise, is signing up for a series adaptation of his novel The Marlow Murder Club for PBS Masterpiece and British network UKTV.
Ghosts (2019) producer Monumental Television is behind the 2021 film adaptation of the novel, which follows a retired archaeologist played by Samantha Bond (pictured below), of Downton Abbey fame. When the police won't believe her story, Judith strikes up an unlikely friendship with local dog walker and empty-nester Suzie and unfulfilled pastor's wife Becks as they launch their own investigation. In the end, they are asked to help with the official police investigation, led by the newly promoted Tanika. The women must piece together clues, interview suspicious witnesses and face real danger as they work against the clock to stop the killer.

The series also stars Cara Horgan (The Sandman), Jo Martin (Doctor Who) and Natalie Dew (The Capture).

Thorogood is the creator of the hugely successful BBC drama Death In Paradise, which airs in the US on PBS and has run for twelve seasons. He is writing the screenplay for The Marlow Murder Club and Steve Barron (Around the World in 80 Days) is directing.

"After more than a decade of working on Death In Paradise, I'm thrilled to be making a brand new murder mystery series for television," said Thorogood. "I can't wait for audiences to follow Judith, Becks and Suzie on their adventures to solve a series of puzzling murders.

PBS and UKTV, which is owned by BBC Studios, are also co-producing the crime thriller Miss Scarlet and the Duke, which has run for three seasons and will air a fourth season next year.

The Marlow Murder Club is produced by Debra Hayward, Alison Owen, Alison Carpenter, Susanne Simpson, Philippa Collie Cousins, Barron and Thorogood. Producer is Jane Wallbank. ITV Studios handles the international distribution and PBS is the North American distributor.
