The world premiere of the penultimate episode will take place at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday, September 8.

Set against the vibrant and tumultuous backdrop of Hong Kong 2014, Expats centers on three American women – Margaret (Kidman), Hilary (Blue) and Mercy (Yoo) – whose lives intersect after a sudden family tragedy. The series questions privilege and explores what happens when the line between victimhood and guilt is blurred. Tee plays Margaret's husband Clarke and Huston plays Hilary's husband David.
Wang is the creator, director and writer of Expats. She also co-produces the series with Daniele Melia for Local Time. Kidman is executive producing the series alongside Per Saari for Blossom Films (Rabbit Hole, Nine Perfect Strangers), along with Alice Bell (The Beautiful Lie), who was the first writer on board for the series.
Theresa Park (Roar) for Per Capita Productions and Stan Wlodkowski (Rome) are also executive producers. Vera Miao (Two Sentence Horror Stories), Gursimran Sandhu (Game of Thrones) and writer Janice Y. K. Lee are the writers of Expats with Bell and Wang.
