
Murder in a Small Town is based on the Edgar Award-winning, nine-book Karl Alberg series by the late Canadian author L.R. Wright.
Fox has acquired US rights to the series, which is written by head writer Ian Weir (Arctic Air), director Milan Cheylov (The Cleaning Lady (US)) and Canada's Sepia Films in association with Fox Entertainment and Future Shack Entertainment, the company from former USA Network president Jeff Wachtel.
This is Fox's first greenlight for a scripted series produced with an international studio.

Vancouver-born Sutherland, son of Donald Sutherland and half-brother of Kiefer Sutherland, has starred in Prime Video's Three Pines starring Alfred Molina and season two of Apple TV+'s Canadian series Plan B. He was recently seen in the television film Bad Romance: The Vicky White Story.
A native of Vancouver, Kreuk is known for her starring roles in The CW's Smallville, CBC's Edgemont, The CW's Beauty and the Beast and CBS/the CW's Burden of Truth, which she also produced. Kreuk recently appeared in season one of Amazon's series Reacher.
